about water baby 操
water baby 操 is a selfish attempt to create a personal archive—i won’t beat around the bush. (GAY.)
like every human with access to the internet and an irrepressible need to explore and understand myself through art, literature, music, history, philosophy, and more, i’m not producing anything special.
and yet, no one else can document the thoughts, feelings, and lived experiences i’ve had, that—if not told, written about, or somehow documented—will continue to live by their lonesome in my head and my head alone. (GAY. again.)
i do have intentions for this space—don’t get me wrong. but like water, i’m sure this space will ebb & flow, transform and mutate, as i do my best to keep this both a sustainable writing practice as well as a sanctuary space.
what i mean to say is, this space will be ever-evolving.
and most likely rambly, too.
with some irreverent sprinkles on top, just for shits.
but i’m excited about it. and that has to mean something.
who am i?
i’m misao—a writer, singer/songwriter & playwright currently living a rural, small-town life in central louisiana with my wife and three cats.
i have a BA in theater & music with a concentration in playwriting, and a minor in gender & women’s studies—all of which inevitably end up influencing my work.
and i genuinely believe in the power of storytelling as a vehicle for empathy-building world-building, being able to laugh at yourself, and generally learning something you didn’t already know.
most of my “writing career” has been spent working as a copywriter and ghostwriter, so this is my attempt to try and create a sustainable practice where i write in my voice, not someone else’s.
only god and my therapist know what lies beneath the surface… and now, i guess, you.
thank you so much for being here!
